It takes a village…………of white working class people
May 11, 2008 by Regular Brotha
in places like Pennsylvania, Texas and Ohio to put the Wright person in office, Wright Billary? So I guess the “white working class” does not exist in Iowa, Wyoming, Kansas, Minnesota, North Dakota, and Utah, eh?
In case you forgot Billary, these are just some of the states that were won by Obama. The margin of victories had nothing to do with UNIMPORTANT, high numbers of “judas black activist voters” casting their votes for Obama just because he is black. OBVIOUSLY, LARGE NUMBERS OF WHITE WORKING CLASS VOTERS VOTED IN FAVOR OF OBAMA IN THESE STATES!
Next thing you know, we’ll see you in a campaign ad flying through the mountains of West Virgina in cape and tights; and a WWC (White working class) logo on your chest saying……………….
HERE I COME TO SAVE THE DAYYYYYYYYYY!
YOU ARE REALLY GETTING YOUR WILLIE HORTON ON!
Great Post!

Iowa, Wyoming, Kansas, Minnesota, North Dakota, and Utah: Actually, while many of these voters are white, I would not call most of them working class. I think what the media means by this are the industrialized workers, and in these states, many whites are employed in agri-business once known as farming. I don’t think anyone would deny that white voters have supported Obama, but “white voters” haven’t been classified like this before (we all use Gramsci’s theory of hegemony to figure out why). Still, although I am white, I don’t think of myself as a “white voter.” Maybe I am fooling myself. I don’t think I have a single issue or reason that makes me vote the way I do.
There is no denying Obama is going to have to take those big states to win the presidency if he’s the nominee. White people make up the majority of the country. I am not saying that is a good thing, it’s just a fact. He needs to make inroads with white men who work or worked (past tense) in factories or in factory towns and cities.
I find it interesting that you don’t mention just what Hillary has demonstrated to the “white voter” that allows them to instead identify/align themselves as ‘Clinton Supporters”. It is 2008 you know.
I understand the concept behind Gramsci’s theory of hegemonic culture. If that’s the answer as to why Obama needs to “make inroads” with “white men” while Hillary simply does not because she posseses the “bourgeoisie majority value set”, then in 2008 I reject that as valid reasoning.
My reasoning for rejecting this concept in modern times is (1) I’m alive. I live now, not in 1950, not in 1920. (2) The internet was not around in 1950 or 1920 to allow the “white working class” a forum to see just how the bourgeoisie value set is in fact very far from an actual, factual “common sense” basis and how it gets over on them.
I also KNOW from the line of work that I am in that those who work in agri-business as non-exempt employees are in fact “working class”. While this sector of business is prominent in Iowa, it is not in Utah.
Explain that. I’ll do it for you.
While I agree that the white working class has stunningly ’suffered” from possessing a “Gramsci theorized” mindset during the DUPYA Presidency, I believe as a whole that citizens today have been awakened and smartened by the presence of the internet.
The ability to fact check via use of broadband at affordable prices has allowed the working class (yea, us hard working class black/hispanic(legal)/asian/other people too) to start to define it’s own definition and state of mind of “common sense values” that’s more in tune with reality.
