Obama just passed his one year mark recently. My thoughts on his presidency so far brings to memory a post I submitted back in October 2008. It was titled “Republicans, after Obama, it’s back to the good ole days…”.
My take on Obama’s first year is that when he said ‘We have a deficit of trust” during his State of the Union Address, he wasn’t talking about the obvious (Republicans and big business). He was talking about trust among Democrats themselves. Obama’s first year has been a struggle. Though Democrats had the vaunted “supermajority” 60 vote advantage, they did not fully support the White House’s agenda. Why? Because quite a bit of them have proven to be controlled by the same lobbyist that control Republicans. And I suspect that some of them are still a little bothered about being led by a black man.
My post back in October 2008 basically talks about this part of the Democrat Party. It’s the same section that brought forward so much disdain at the thoughts of having to vote for a Democrat presidential candidate who happened to be black. The present Democrat Party as a whole has so far proven that they lack the courage to become apart of the type of change that Obama has tried to usher into American politics. We knew the Republicans would not cooperate (and they have not). It’s the representatives and senators on the Democrat side of the aisle that have proven to be the roadblocks to passing key legislation that the Obama Administration has championed.
What the Democrats don’t understand is that this is their last chance and the last chance for this country. If they don’t stop blocking Obama’s agenda then they are sure to loose the black vote come next election. Say what you want of the support Obama got from whites and hispanics, it was the black vote and the numbers in which they turned out that carried Obama over. the Democrat Party will not get that again if they continue to betray Obama and work behind the scenes with Republicans to make it seem as though Obama can’t get the job done.
The very next time we get a Republican President, you can kiss the good ole US of A goodbye. The damage that Dupya caused coupled with a paralyzed one term Obama Presidency lays the ground work for the GOP to finish the job due to it’s alliance with big business. The ultimate goal of this alliance is the total destruction of the middle class. This would mean more profits for the haves off the backs of the havenots.
The conservative Supreme Court just demonstrated the alliance effects by essentially overturning settled law that now allows for corporations to rig every election with overwhelming pro republican advertising that will surely brainwash or simple scare voters into voting for Republicans. (yes, American voters are that gullible)
Yep, you Blacks saddled this nation with Obama. 10 million of you went out voted for him, which “put him over the top” – assuming you discount the 53 million non-Blacks who voted for him.
One thing, your kind certainly got him the Dems nomination. There’s no denying that in all its racist “glory.”
But, since the Dems aren’t going to limit themselves to only Black candidates, they could really count on the Black vote anyway so your threat is seriously weakened.
But it all moot. Americans will take our country back in 2010 and 2012 – and then we’ll decide if you all have any place left in it.
So…take your country back to the good ole days of the Bush Administrations (notice I ended it with an S)?
You mean white republicans are going to take the country back. Like I said in my bio (fool), this is my country. One thing for sure, I’m more American then you will ever be. And I’m sure I pay more taxes then you! Also, most white republican guys DON’T join the military so I’m sure I got you beat in the “serving and defending my country” category.
It’s more of MY COUNTRY then it is yours! Weirdo Avatar guy…
As far as you or your republican friends deciding if I have any place left in it… You need to make sure there isn’t a back lash against YOU and your types within your own race to where you won’t be able to even say your a republican in public.
Your cracking at the seams. That’s evident in the 53 million non-blacks (of course what ever amount of this figure who were white) voting for a black guy instead of a fake ass american such as a republican.
One thing you can count on. IF you and your types take back control, we all need to worry if the United States will have a place in the world! Republicans are the looters of Democracy. Dupya proved that.
There is no more in the coffers left for another republican take over to loot. The likes of you who voted for 8 years of Dupya can be blamed for this. Not the 10 million blacks (so you say) that “saddled” this nation with Obama.
Be serious… You’d really take Dupya over Obama? ( I know your answer is yes) You can’t be that bamboozled (yea…you can).
We’ll take it a bit farther back than that. Bush was as much of a big government Statist as Obama or any of his followers.
I sincerely doubt that you pay more taxes than I do, but if you do, more power to you. Just actually paying taxes at the federal level puts you and I ahead of 60% of the population.
You’re wrong on point two as well. I served in the military for a number of years.
Would I take Bush Jr. over Obama? Certainly, any day of the week with the current Congress. Would I be so eager if the Congress were held by the GOP like the current is by the Dems? No.
Bush was bad, but Obama is far, far worse. McCain would have been better than either, but a moderate Republican wasn’t going to win in 2008.
Frankly, your post and your “about” page don’t match up. In your “about” page don’t match up. In the “about” page you sound like a man who wants fair opportunities, but in this post you rant and threaten like any other special interest group wanting something from the government.
“If they don’t stop blocking Obama’s agenda then they are sure to loose the black vote come next election.”
Why shouldn’t they block Obama if they don’t agree with them? Because he’s Black and you all will turn against them in 2010?
That rather implies that you believe that Obama can’t be balked because he’s Black and/or that your votes are somehow more important than other peoples.
…And you call me racist.
As for those 53 million Obama voters – they came in a couple of varieties.
There were the ones that Obama played well and who voted not so much for Obama but against Bush (who wasn’t running).
And there were the ethno-guiltists who voted for Obama because he was Black, but one that they could safely – they thought – vote for.
And finally there were the pie-in-sky Leftists – these Progressives – who thought he was their messiah and would usher in a new age – think MLK / Ganhi but with formal political power.
Wow. You really are not thinking clearly. You seem like a smart fellow. But you’ve clearly been indoctrinated in Republican Ideology to the point of lunacy.
You would take Dupya over Obama! I bet you don’t believe this as well…

Wake up. Your the enemy to US prosperity. You just don’t know it…
No, I believe it as far as it went. While the tax cuts were a sound idea – and may have saved us from an even worse economic meltdown, Congress’ – and I believe that was during the GOP-controlled years – not adjusting the federal to compensate or “pay” for them was disastrous.
…And neither you or I needs give the other a lecture on what waging a foreign war costs in terms of $$$. We’ve both dealt with Supply enough to know that song.
But yes, as bad as Bush Jr. was, I’d take him back over Obama – especially with very strong Dem majorities in both houses of Congress. Then again, I’d take Clinton back over Obama as well.
You see your motto of, “You get your but out there and make a living for yourself or you die” is essentially my motto as well. That’s why I’m – after having read that on top of you “about” page – confused as to your support for Obama. That certainly isn’t anything related to any of the policies that He’s said he’s in favor of – quite the opposite in fact.
As for “Republican Ideology” – I’m normally disliked by the mainstream GOP crowd as well. I’m either too Right or too Left for them.
