I’ve been going back and forth with so called “progressive Democrats” about their attacks on Obama being no different then attacks on Obama from the right. Then it hit me. These attacks are coming from the Hillary Clinton voter base. They never really warmed up to the idea of a black man leading them and never got over Hillary losing.

It’s like the kid on the basketball court that gets upset because his team loses and takes the basketball home with him immediately after the loss so that no one continues to play.

Trust me, Republicans are taking note:

The Clinton Voters Jump Ship

Obama’s shrinking base

I’m surprised they (Clinton supporters) didn’t turn on him (Obama) sooner… like one year into his Presidency. Oh that’s right, we are one year into his Presidency.

I expected this. , however.

Really. That’s all I can say about the thatsrightnate.com blog post… New Basketball League to Rebreak Color Barrier

What am I doing perusing a quack right wing site? thatsrightnate.com showed up in my viewers stats so I was curious to check out just what Nate was about (like I do others who visit my blog).

Anyway, I stumbled across Nate’s post with the above title. This post is on par with all the other right wing crap this Tea Party nut case has on this site. What was real interesting is that your greeted with the reality that this site has had 250,000, that’s right TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTY THOUSAND hits. Par for the course because I believe this country is still full of white racist who are seething because there is a black President.

In the post, Nate disregards that fact that leagues such as the Negro Leagues were created by blacks because of Jim Crow laws and segregation ideology that prevented blacks from competing against anyone white in a major sport. Nate re-writes history to suggest or support a viewpoint that “The shameful secret of the Negro Leagues is that they had a color barrier that kept white players from playing. ”

Seriously, he writes this. And I’m sure there are 250,000 fools out there reading it who now believes this crap.

I’ll say this, the inevitable is coming. What these Tea Party Revolutionaries don’t understand is that IF there is a revolution, it’s going to be against their asses.

They are fooling themselves into thinking that their the oppressed ones when all along their types have been the oppressor. Whether directly through participating in greedy business practices, or indirectly by voting in pro- greedy business politicians such as the Bush’s, Cheney’s, Reagan’s and Nixon’s.

Now they want to take a fake “revolutionist” tenor and call for a change after one year of losing the controls of the ship that THEY took off course with the fuel of trickle down economics.

Bring it. Truth and the power of the oppressed fuels a revolution. Someone who can afford over $1000 to attend  what amounts to a KKK convention over a weekend surely cannot be placed into the category of the oppressed. Especially in this economy. Take a look in the mirror and see who the revolution will target…YOU!

Obama just passed his one year mark recently. My thoughts on his presidency so far brings to memory a post I submitted back in October 2008. It was titled “Republicans, after Obama, it’s back to the good ole days…”.

My take on Obama’s first year is that when he said ‘We have a deficit of trust” during his State of the Union Address, he wasn’t talking about the obvious (Republicans and big business). He was talking about trust among Democrats themselves. Obama’s first year has been a struggle. Though Democrats had the vaunted “supermajority” 60 vote advantage, they did not fully support the White House’s agenda. Why?  Because quite a bit of them have proven to be controlled by the same lobbyist that control Republicans.  And I suspect that some of them are still a little bothered about being led by a black man.

My post back in October 2008 basically talks about this part of the Democrat Party. It’s the same section that brought forward so much disdain at the thoughts of having to vote for a Democrat presidential candidate who happened to be black. The present Democrat Party as a whole has so far proven that they  lack the courage to become apart of the type of change that Obama has tried to usher into American politics. We knew the Republicans would not cooperate (and they have not). It’s the representatives and senators on the Democrat side of the aisle that have proven to be the roadblocks to passing key legislation that the Obama Administration has championed.

What the Democrats don’t understand is that this is their last chance and the last chance for this country. If they don’t stop blocking Obama’s agenda then they are sure to loose the black vote come next election. Say what you want of the support Obama got from whites and hispanics, it was the black vote and the numbers in which they turned out that carried Obama over. the Democrat Party will not get that again if they continue to betray Obama and work behind the scenes with Republicans to make it seem as though Obama can’t get the job done.

The very next time we get a Republican President, you can kiss the good ole US of A goodbye. The damage that Dupya caused coupled with a paralyzed one term Obama Presidency lays the ground work for the GOP to finish the job due to it’s alliance with big business. The ultimate goal of this alliance is the total destruction of the middle class. This would mean more profits for the haves off the backs of the havenots.

The conservative Supreme Court just demonstrated the alliance effects by essentially overturning settled law that now allows for corporations to rig every election with overwhelming pro republican advertising that will surely brainwash or simple scare voters into voting for Republicans. (yes, American voters are that gullible)

This post serves as a check point and archive of the various racist events that I have witnessed during the Obama Administration which were directed towards Barack Obama.  They speak for themselves…

obama-witchdoctor-muck

This depiction of President Barack Obama emailed to other conservatives stating that Obama is an “African Witch Doctor” that will cause the quality of care in the country to worsen, caused it’s creator

Dr. david-mckalip (name in caps intended to show no respect for person)

to issue a statement that he would withdraw from public debate about a public health care plan.

The actual pic that was altered isn’t even that of an African Witch Doctor.  It’s a Papua New Guinea tribesman…

Anyway, this is the first entry, though I will be going backwards towards January 09 to find and post other examples of Digital Jim Crow…

GOP candidate wins despite racism flap

audra-shay-young republicans-facebook-03_233200859004

Thirty-eight-year-old Audra Shay’s campaign to become the next chairman of the Young Republicans went from obscure to infamous over the past week, after The Daily Beast revealed details of posts of her Facebook account. Specifically, a thread where one of her friends posts that “Obama Bin Lauden [sic] is the new terrorist… Muslim is on there side [sic]… need to take this country back from all of these mad coons… and illegals,” and Shay responds eight minutes later with: “You tell em Eric! lol.”

“This is an outrage and I CAN NOT believe this nation has him as our leader! It makes me sick!” She posted a few minutes later: “My disdain for Obama is directly proportionate for his disdain of this country.”

Michael Steele is trying to woo blacks into the GOP joking that he’d bring “fried chicken and potato salad to a GOP cookout for the recruitment of blacks while a gay black blogger would bring the “collard greens”.

This dude is a clown.

And how come every time I go into Bojangles here in NC, there are more whites in there eating “fried chicken” then any other customer?

Things are going  a wire. All of these deaths of relatively young black American celebrity men . Gerald Levert, Sean Levert, Bernie Mac, MICHAEL JACKSON, now Steve McNair.

Regardless of what Mike wanted, these were all black men. Falling dead either in their prime or in the prime of their careers.  This needs to be addressed within the black  blog  community as well as withing the community themselves. It’s just not happening to the “gang bangers”. It’s happening to Regular Brotha’s and the so regular brotha’s (celebrities).

We gotta talk…

I went to the 15th Annual Woman’s Empowerment event in Raleigh yesterday. I’ve lived here for 8 years  and this is the first time I’ve gone. I went with my wife and two daughters.

I guess the motivation for me going was more related to my older daughter being 17 and about to leave the nest and go to college, along with the fact the event advertised a “Mens Lounge” for men who attended the event. I’m sentimental in that I look forward to doing things with my oldest knowing it is the last time I could do them with her before she “spreads her wings and fly away”…

O.K.. Yes, I was also there to critique the event.

I had made comments in the past questioning just “how empowering” the event was, making assumptions that it was more of a concert with vendors doting the hallways of the event hocking wears and flea market type goods. I had heard of the “workshops” marketed on the local black radio stations so I assumed they were a intergral part of the event . I figured this was a great opportunity to see if I was off base and just how plain ignorant my past assumptions could have been.

Well… to me, the event was just alright.  A concert with SOME workshops, but more of a concert with a flea market. It clearly and rightfully was not catered to me (a man, a black man at that) but having been” raised” (more on that in another post) the past 18 years by three members of the opposite sex, I’d like to say that I can relate to issues and events targeted toward black women better then most would think. I really believe I have a say with respects to the event because I live in a house with three black women (well two and one up and coming), so something that talks about empowering them (which I don’t mind) has got my attention.

The event was, to me, a jumbled mess really. The guest speaker (Mary J. Blige) apparently did not connect with the women in attendance in the stadium. Well maybe not all of them. While “hanging” in the “so called” mens lounge, I met these three other brothers, one who told me that his wife had commented to him earlier that Mary J was not inspiring at all to her. She was unprepared and really was just there to make a buck.

At the end of the event, my wife and two daughters essentially echoed her sentiments about Mary J. They also commented on the so called “question and answer” session with Mary J, which they said was just a total mess.

My wife said that she did attend a couple of good workshops, one in particular was about fibroids. She said the workshops were  uncomfortable because you could barely hear the speaker due to the fact the workshops were in open spaces adjacent to the arena. The noise from the performances really conflicted with the presentation.

From my vantage point, it seemed to be more of a festival for black women then an empowerment event. The stadium stayed packed. The only time the hall ways of the RBC were crowded was in between acts when attendees made their way to the concession stands or the bathroom.  I think the event would benefit from being held in the new Raleigh Convention Center as opposed to the RBC Center.

In the convention center, they can section off the workshop rooms so they are more intimate and there is no interference of noise from the performances. I’ve took part a couple of “Black Expo” events in convention centers as an entrepreneur and I believe this type of setting is better served  for this event then in the RBC.

The acts at the event was kinda cheesy. Or at least the mens acts (other then Raheem DeVaughn) were. My wife said “I guess this is what black women has reduced themselves to as far as what they consider entertaining”.  My older daughter basically said the same. Mim’s, Bobby Valentino, and Pleasure P (?) of Pretty Ricky were all garbage as far as I’m concerned. Valentino is more of a rap record “hook” singer then an established artist. AND WHY THE HELL WAS HE WEARING SAGGING ASS PANTS THAT CONTINUALLY SHOWED HIS UNDERWEAR at an event meant to empower women? To de-power ( OR deflower some of the groupies)  them into continuing to make bad choices in men? If anything, I suspect it reinforced in quite a bit of the women attendees minds that this is the type of black man that’s attractive, one who has no respect for himself and perpetuates the thug life look.

God dammit, black woman need to all see the documentary “Diary of a Tired Black Man!

Jennifer Hudson was good, but after seeing all of the garbage that came on before her, it was sort of a let down that she was on stage for a mere 15 minutes (or so it seemed). Then BAM, it was over.

Like I said, a move to the convention center and less focus on entertainment and more on the workshops would be a good move for the event. Of course, the question is, will the event sell out without the primary focus being placed on the entertainment?

Something tells me the answer is NO! I guess Tom Joyner knows what he’s doing when he labels his events ” A Party with a Purpose”.  You know we’ll come out to snap our fingers… Black Women are no different the Black Men in this area.

However, I did run into this young woman who resides in Va. and has a pretty good website/blog ( I checked it out this morning). It’s cleverspeaks.com… check her out. She has some important things to say about our plight from the vantage point of a smart black female.
